Pre-Eclipse Party!

  • Introduction: Fun, eclipse themed learning!

Join the AzMNH and the School for the Future of Innovation in Society at ASU and the School of Earth and Space Exploration at ASU for a fun filled, interactive learning experience all about space science and the eclipse!

On August 21st, a total eclipse will occur that can be seen all over North America. Help us welcome it with a pre-eclipse party! This party is going to be off the hook! Check out what we have in store for YOU!

Upstairs
• Telescopes: Learn about telescopes with AZ Star Tales
• Pinhole Camera Activity
• Moon Phase Viewer Craft: Make a viewer to observe and document the changing moon phases

Main Floor
• Moveable Moon Over Sun Craft ( In the Lobby)
• Big Sun, Small Moon: Trick your eyes with distance and size ( In the Ancient Mesoamerica Gallery)
• Imagining Life: What could survive on alien worlds? ( in the Origins Gallery)
• Orbiting Objects: Give gravity a whirl! ( In Dino Hall)
• Story time “Moon Rope”: What can we observe on the moon? Time to be determined (In the South West Cultures Gallery)
• Ice Orbs: What lies below the surface of an icy moon? ( In Dino Zone)
• Speaker, Joe Holland: Learn about the moon, nature of eclipses and the upcoming ASU space mission! Time to be determined ( In the Theater)
• Story time “Moonbear’s Shadow”: Why does Bear’s shadow move? Time to be determined ( In the Theater)

Downstairs
• Pocket Solar System Craft: Make a miniature model of Earth’s neighborhood ( In the Exploration Station)
• Chalk Solar Eclipse Craft ( In the Exploration Station)
• Model Solar Eclipse: Cast the moon’s shadow onto earth ( Next to the Aquarium)
